Beautifully written MaryAnn, great advice on the importance of timing your photo sessions and the why of it all.

Great advice for parents MaryAnn!

Samara

Great reminders MaryAnn! It's so important to book at the right times, ages and milestones are important factors for amazing portraits!

Julie

Fantastic article! You are so correct - a knowing and understanding the child's developmental stage is key to getting the portraits you will love. Trying to make a child do something they are simply not ready for or that they are too old for will just cause frustration for the parent and the photographer. Great advice!

Danna

GREAT article! Such helpful info here...I may have to refer clients to this article :)

Pamn

This is yet another reason to trust a seasoned pro photographer to make the best images of your child - you want the best value for your investment as well as a first rate product.

Not only is this good advice for parents in understanding the importance of ages and stages in photography, it is also great for photographers as a reminder to guide parents and children into the sessions and set ups that are most appropriate for each age.

As mentioned on FB yesterday, I got inspired by your entry and did a "I have a newborn" blog entry today... Linked the inspiration to your blog...

Cheers :)

I can't wait to share this with my clients. So often they ask when the perfect times are and I pretty much go through the milestones!
